SESSION overview

This session explores the frontiers of deep-sea technology through an interdisciplinary dialogue between scientific research and industrial innovation. The marine environment, particularly its extreme depths, presents unique challenges that demand advances in materials science, structural engineering, robotics, and digital security while simultaneously offering opportunities for sustainable technological development and environmental protection.

The session is structured in two parts. The first part focuses on materials, structures, and robotics in extreme underwater environments, addressing the fundamental research questions that arise when engineering systems must operate under unprecedented pressures, temperatures, and corrosive conditions. The second part investigates how advances in marine technology serve broader objectives of territorial protection and sustainability, exploring the intersection of naval engineering, hydrography, marine geology, and cybersecurity.

Throughout both parts, the session fosters the dialogue between researchers, industry practitioners, policymakers, and the broader scientific community on the critical role of deep-sea innovation in addressing contemporary global challenges.
